An employee of Bruce Community Living Center since 2012, Beneatha Jackson, is an integral part of the staff generally and the dietary department specially.
As evidence, Dee Dee, as she prefers to be called, worked with her Dietary Manager to recreate a southern staple and favorite of our residents: cornbread dressing. They prepped ingredients days in advance and made small test batches to insure seasoning and flavors were perfectly married. When the recipe was perfect, Dee Dee executed it flawlessly, using the slow cooking approach taught her by generations of home cooks in her family.
The result: Residents said it was the best dressing served them since their arrival in the facility.
It is for her commitment to excellence, evidenced by a willingness to step up to leadership when needed that Beneatha “Dee Dee” Jackson has been recognized as a recipient of the core value award for Responsibility.
